How many lead form fields should your website ask for? It is a trade-off. Each extra field makes the form harder to finish, so fewer people send it. But each field also tells you more about the person before you call. The right answer depends on what one request is worth to you and how much time your team spends on each one.
The basic rule
Ask only what you need to make the first contact useful. For most small businesses in Yerevan that means:
- Name, so you know how to address the person.
- Phone, preferably with a "Telegram or WhatsApp" option.
- One choice: service, product, date or budget range, as buttons rather than a text field.
Everything else, such as details, address, exact wishes, can be clarified on the call.

Short vs long: comparison
| Short form (2–3 fields) | Long form (6+ fields) | |
|---|---|---|
| Effort for the visitor | Low, done in seconds | High, needs time and thought |
| Number of requests | Usually more | Usually fewer |
| Quality of each request | Mixed, needs a qualifying call | More prepared, easier to estimate |
| Work for your team | More calls to qualify | Less calling, more reading |
| Good for | Salons, clinics, cafes, fitness, repairs, rentals | Custom projects, B2B quotes, high-value services |
Fields that cost you requests
Some fields are especially likely to make people stop:
- Required email when people would rather be called.
- Required long description ("Describe your project").
- Exact budget as a free number. A range with buttons works better.
- Company name, position, website for a simple service.
- "How did you hear about us" as a required field. Use UTM tags instead.
- Captcha puzzles. Use invisible spam protection.

When a longer form makes sense
A longer form is worth it when every request takes serious work: a custom quote, a site visit, a long call. Then it is better to have fewer requests where people already told you the size, dates and budget. Examples:
- renovation and construction estimates,
- corporate events and catering,
- B2B services and wholesale,
- complex software or design projects.
Even then, make only the essentials required and mark the rest optional.
Multi-step forms: the middle ground
A multi-step form shows one simple question at a time, mostly with buttons. The visitor answers "Which service?", then "When?", then leaves a name and phone. It collects as much as a long form but feels short. This is how quizzes and booking bots work. Read more in quiz funnel for a website. If the main question is price, a price calculator can replace several fields and give the visitor an answer right away.
| Approach | When to use | Price at Kinto |
|---|---|---|
| Short form | Most service businesses | included in the site |
| Multi-step form or quiz | Several services or options to pick | part of the site project |
| Telegram bot | Bookings, orders, repeat clients | from $500 |
| Price calculator | Price depends on parameters | part of the site project |
Small details that help
- Phone field with the +374 code already filled, and a numeric keyboard on phones.
- Clear button text: "Get a quote", "Book a visit", not "Submit".
- What happens next, right under the button: "We will call back within 15 minutes during working hours".
- No reset button next to submit.
- A thank-you message that confirms the request was received.
- Form near the information. A form on each service page, not only on the contacts page.
Speed matters more than fields
Whatever form you choose, the next step decides the result: how fast someone calls back. A request that waits until tomorrow is often already lost to a competitor. On sites we build, every request goes to Telegram the moment it is sent, with the page and source attached. See website leads to Telegram.
How to test
- Set up analytics goals for each form. Kinto sets up analytics from $500.
- Change one thing at a time, for example remove the email field.
- Compare the number of requests and how many turned into clients over a few weeks.
- Keep what brings more real clients, not only more requests.
| Project | Price at Kinto | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page with forms | from $700 | about 6 days |
| Website with sections | from $1,800 | about 12 days |
| Analytics setup | from $500 | with the site |
Next step
Send us a link to your current form, and we will suggest which fields to keep. Write to @kinto_am on Telegram or leave a request through the form. More on the website development page.
