For many services, a single pair of photos says more than three paragraphs. Restore Factory, a furniture dry cleaning service in Yerevan whose site we built, gets customers mostly because people see their own stained sofa in the "before" picture and want the "after". The idea works for many businesses, but only if the gallery is done honestly and well.
Who it works for
- Dry cleaning of sofas, carpets, mattresses and car interiors
- Renovation and repair
- Dentistry and cosmetology
- Hair and nail salons
- Car detailing and paint work
- Furniture restoration, landscaping, window cleaning
If the result of your work is visible, a gallery is probably your strongest sales tool.
Rules for photos that convince
- Same angle. Stand in the same spot for both photos. Mark it on the floor if needed.
- Same light. Daylight from the same direction, or the same lamp. Different light makes the result look fake.
- Same framing. The object should take the same space in the frame.
- No retouching of the result. Crop and correct brightness equally on both. Anything more is visible, and customers stop believing all your photos.
- Real cases. Include a few difficult ones. A perfect gallery of easy jobs looks staged.
Captions that sell
Each pair needs a short caption:
| Caption part | Example |
|---|---|
| Service | Sofa dry cleaning, 3-seater |
| Problem | Coffee stains, pet hair |
| Time | 3 hours on site |
| Price | From the starting price on your price list |
| Area (optional) | Arabkir, Yerevan |
This also gives search engines text to read, so the gallery helps your ranking, not just your conversion.
Slider, grid or both
- Drag slider: the visitor moves a handle and sees the change. Very engaging, works on phones.
- Grid of pairs: easy to scan many cases quickly.
- Combined: a grid where tapping a pair opens the slider. This is what we usually recommend.
Keep images light. A gallery of 30 uncompressed photos can make a page painfully slow on mobile data. Images should be compressed and load as the visitor scrolls.
Where to place the gallery
Put two or three of your best pairs on the homepage, near the price or calculator, and the full gallery on a separate page or on each service page. Before and after works best right next to the button that turns interest into a request.
Consent and privacy
For faces, bodies and smiles, get written consent and keep it. For cars and furniture, avoid showing plates, addresses or family photos in the background.
Building the gallery over time
You do not need fifty pairs on launch day. Start with six to eight strong cases that cover your main services, then add one or two new pairs every week. A gallery that keeps growing shows that the business is active, and fresh content gives search engines a reason to revisit the page.
A simple routine for your team:
- Before starting a job, take the "before" photo from a fixed spot.
- After finishing, take the "after" from the same spot, same light.
- Write three facts for the caption: service, problem, time.
- Ask the client if you can publish, and note the answer.
- Upload the pair once a week, not every day, so you can pick the best ones.
Mistakes we see most often
- Different phones for before and after. Colors shift, and the result looks edited.
- Only the "after". Without the starting point, the photo proves nothing.
- Watermarks across the whole image. A small logo in a corner is enough. Big watermarks hide the result you want to show.
- No link to action. A beautiful gallery with no button next to it sends people back to Instagram instead of to your form.
- Huge files. Galleries are the most common reason a service site loads slowly on phones.
Using the same photos in ads and social media
A good pair works everywhere: on the website, in Instagram carousels, in Telegram channel posts and in ads. Keep the original files organised by service, so you can reuse them. On the website, link each Instagram post back to the matching service page, and vice versa, so a visitor who discovers you on social media lands on a page where they can book.
Adding it to your site
A gallery with slider and captions is part of our website development work, both on one-page sites ($700) and multi-page sites ($1,800). If you update the gallery often, we add an admin panel so you can upload new pairs yourself.
Write to @kinto_am on Telegram or use the request form. We reply within 15 minutes, 10:00 to 20:00 Yerevan time.
