Moving to Armenia and opening a business is a common story in Yerevan now: cafés, studios, IT services, beauty salons, tour companies run by people who arrived a few years ago. The website is often treated as an afterthought, yet it is where many customers check whether you are real. Here is a checklist built from what works locally.
1. Domain
- Register a domain in your company's name or your own name, not the developer's.
- A .am domain looks local and is easy to remember for Armenian customers. A .com works for international audiences. Registering both and redirecting one to the other is common.
- Keep the login to the registrar account in a safe place.
2. Languages
Yerevan is a three-language city for business. Decide based on your customers:
| Audience | Language |
|---|---|
| Local Armenian customers | Armenian |
| Russian-speaking residents and relocated people | Russian |
| Expats, tourists, international clients | English |
Each language should have its own pages, not an automatic translation widget. Search engines index each version separately, and customers notice machine translation immediately.
3. Contacts that people actually use
- Telegram and WhatsApp buttons near the top of the page.
- Instagram link, since many customers check it before writing.
- Phone number for those who still prefer calling.
- Email is fine to include, but it is rarely the first contact here.
Requests from the website form should arrive where you work, ideally in Telegram, not in an inbox you check once a day.
4. Prices and location
Customers in Yerevan expect to see at least a starting price. Show your address with a map link and a landmark, and your working hours. If you are new, honest information compensates for the lack of reviews.
5. Google Business Profile
Create a profile with the same name, address and hours as the website. Add photos of the entrance and inside. Many customers find new businesses through Google Maps, and the profile links back to your site.
6. Payments
If you sell online, connect card payments through a local provider after registering your company. Until then, a request form plus payment on site or by transfer is perfectly normal for local customers.
7. Basics that build trust
- Real photos of you, your team and your place.
- Company name and registration details in the footer.
- A short privacy note about how you use contact data.
- Fast loading on phones.
8. Ownership and access
Make a simple list: domain registrar, hosting, admin panel, analytics, Google profile, Telegram bot. For each, who owns it and where the login is. This saves you from losing access when a freelancer disappears.
