Hosting is the least exciting part of a website and the one people remember only when the site goes down. For a small business in Armenia the choice is simpler than hosting companies make it sound.
What you actually need
A cafe landing page or a clinic website with ten pages does not need a powerful server. It needs:
- Fast loading for visitors on mobile data in Yerevan, and for people abroad looking you up before a trip.
- https with a valid certificate, so browsers do not show a warning.
- Backups you can restore from.
- Uptime, meaning the site is simply available.
- An account in the owner's name.

Types of hosting
| Type | Good for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Shared hosting | Simple sites, low traffic | Neighbors on the same server can slow you down |
| VPS (virtual server) | Sites with a backend, bots, stores | Needs someone to maintain it |
| Managed hosting | Owners who want zero technical work | Usually costs more per month |
For a static landing page almost anything reliable works. For an online store or a site with a Telegram bot and a database, a VPS maintained by someone who knows what they are doing is the usual choice.
Local or abroad?
A common question in Armenia is whether the server must be local. In practice, a properly configured server in Europe loads quickly in Yerevan. What matters is measured speed: open your site on a phone using mobile data and see how fast the first screen appears. That test is more honest than any hosting brochure.

Domain and hosting are different things
The domain (like yourbusiness.am) is your address. Hosting is where the files live. They can be with different companies. A .am domain is registered through an accredited registrar; hosting can be anywhere. Keep both in accounts you control.
The ownership trap
The most painful hosting problem is not speed. It is access. We regularly hear about businesses whose site was set up by a freelancer years ago, on the freelancer's account. When the freelancer disappears, so does control over the site.
At Kinto the domain and all accounts are registered to the client. You get the logins. If you ever decide to work with someone else, you can.
Costs at Kinto
Development is paid once, as fixed in the contract. Hosting and support are optional and billed monthly, separately. Domain costs follow the registrar's price. Our 6-month support package ($900) covers updates, small edits, backups and monitoring.
See the full list on the pricing page and what is included in website development.
